Financial Diet and other stuff

Well, Erik and I are on a financial diet for the next 30 days (28 now). With all the car repairs, home improvements, and entertaining of guests we are ready for a quiet and cheap month. It was also spurred by this great article I read "Can you stop spending for a month".

It is a pretty great article, but it is HARD to do! We've only been not spending for 2 days and I am already wanting to quit. I don't think it helps that Erik and I are also trying to eat through the pantry and freezer before going to the store. That means Lean Cuisine's for lunch. Today my lean cuisine was especially gross (1/2 soggy 1/2 rock hard).

Also, I wanted to let you all know how my big master class with Louise Toppin went. It was pretty great getting to sing for someone so accomplished. I sang "Steal Me, Sweet Thief" from Gian-Carlo Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief . I did pretty well and was pleased with how I sounded, even though I was very nervous. She gave me a lot of good feedback and made me do VERY embarrassing things in front of the audience. I had to walk around like an ape and then act out the words without singing. This past year I have found that I am not a very extroverted person. Overall it was good to do and I have gotten lots of compliments all day at school!

This past weekend my 2 girlfriends came into town to visit and we all spent time painting pottery, making dinner together, drinking wine, and playing scrabble. Steph (the blonde) came up so we could go dress shopping for her upcoming wedding. We found a few good options for the bridesmaid (see the favorite below).
