Just about 8 weeks old!

In keeping with my sister in law's updates I have decided to give you the run down on Karl as he turns a new month.  He is just a few days shy of 8 weeks- can you believe it!?   It is going fast; just as everyone told me it would.  Part of me wishes Karl would stay this small forever, but I look forward to each day when he does something new.

1. Karl is very interactive and likes to watch our faces and smile at us a lot.

2. His cries are changing- he has developed an "I want mama" cry.

3.  Karl has just learned how to nap on his own! He has spent the last few days in his huge crib.

4. Karl prefers disposable diapers to sleep in- he hates being wet and wakes up squirming.

5. Grandpa is so funny.  He is the only one that makes these funny growling sounds at me.  I could smile all day with him.

6.  I know Daddy and Mommy by voice and sight.

7.  I hate being changed into outfits that go over my head- especially if I am  hungry.
8.  I don't know who Charlie is yet, but I feel random licks on my feet sometimes when mommy isn't watching.
9. I am close to 12 pounds! We go see the doctor tomorrow for an accurate weight.
10. I love to eat eat eat!

I

Karl's first Thanksgiving!

From the beginning of my pregnancy I looked forward to spending the holidays with a new member of our family.  As Thanksgiving approaches I am getting more and more excited to share our traditions with Karl.  This year we are spending it with my family and as usual Lee and I will be in charge of setting the festive table and cleaning up...probably making the pies and most of the sides too.  I hope that apple pie is in our future :)

Now for some gratuitous shots of Karl.  Check out the "I am the boss shirt" and his sweet Osh Kosh B'Gosh overalls.

Rolling in the aisles

Karl gave us some of his first laughs today after breakfast. Even Charlie seemed to find it charming, when Claire snapped this picture he was less than a foot away trying to smell and lick his little friend.

Age: 5wks
Weight: 10lbs
diaper count: 230 disposable, 130 Cloth

That is all!

Happy Halloween!

Karl arrived in time to celebrate his first Halloween. Sheila gave us a very cute "1st Halloween" onesie...sadly no one saw it as he spent most of the day sleeping. Erik and I spent the evening sitting on the front porch with public radio playing spooky music, wine, and good books. It was a perfect night despite the rain. As usual we only had a handful of trick or treaters, but Erik still took the opportunity to play a trick on the kids. He hid the candy in Charlie's milkbone treat box and asked if they wanted a treat. Erik got a few good laughs out of it.

Karl is growing steadily and is now barfing like a champ. We are still wearing new born clothes, but I think in a few more weeks we may find things a bit too small. In the past 4 weeks we have used 200 disposable diapers and 60 cloth diapers.
