Summer Update

Karl and I have been living in the mountains for a bit this summer and it is wonderful.  Despite being a little bored without our regular social network, we have been finding things to keep us busy.  We have perfected oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies.  Karl is great at getting me the ingredients.  In this picture, shortly after making the cookies, Karl stripped from the waist down and tried to take a quick dip in the sink.
The bakers...Karl has evidence of taste testing.
Charlie would have been very happy to assist.

We've set up a pool in the back yard and Karl loves to play in it.

After baking and the pool, Karl usually spends some times playing outside doing chalk art.  He's gotten pretty good at drawing caterpillars.

Dinner is usually made at home and we all enjoyed some fresh vegetables from our own garden.  The carrots were his favorite.

Last week, Karl and I headed back to NOVA for a few doctor appointments and to host our 5th annual cupcake swap.   Here he is spending quality time with Nana. He decided to put her down for a nap.
Playing with "drum sticks" aka chopsticks

We gave Erik our car so he could get better mileage and work on his cars during the week.  That did mean that Karl and I were stranded at our house, so I pulled out the bike and trailer.  Karl always wears a helmet, I just didn't get a picture of him with it on.

Our desitnation of choice is the library

Erik and Karl being mad about not having cupcakes.

My cupcake Entry: Black raspberry with white chocolate.  They were very yummy!

Happy summer!
